Lorena Ziraldo, Italian-born, immigrated to Canada as a child. She majored in painting at the Nova Scotia College of Art and Design in 2000. Exhibitions of her work have been shown in Halifax, Toronto, Guelph and Victoria. Professional activities include workshops and fundraisers through the 1990's to the present.

"Whether dealing with still life, portraiture or landscape, knowing that I can render the object/subject is important to me and this is where I start. Secondly, formal aspects fascinate me - colour, space, composition - decisions such as what is enough? what is too much? To bring these elements together to make work that is evocative without being sentimental - this is important to me".
