My landscape paintings begin with immersion in nature. Climbing a mountain, hiking through the forest, or beachcombing a secluded cove opens up possibilities which elude me in the city. I take photographs and make quick sketches on my trips. Back in the studio, I use the acrylic medium to concoct chromatic mixtures and organic textures reminiscent of objects found in the wilderness. Every color, shape, and pattern is a gift and a reminder to preserve the world's natural treasures. I collect these gifts and put them on the stage in my paintings, as my offering to the lovers or land and art.
